Ear wax removal

Blocked ears, muffled hearing or discomfort? Our trained clinicians offer gentle, effective ear wax microsuction, with no GP referral needed.

Ear wax is normal and usually clears on its own, but sometimes it builds up and blocks the ear. This can cause hearing loss, discomfort, ringing (tinnitus) or a feeling of fullness.

Microsuction is a safe, dry method of removing ear wax. Using magnification to see clearly inside your ear, our clinician gently removes the wax with a small, low-pressure suction device. No water is used, and it is quick and comfortable for most people.

Benefits of microsuction

  • No water is used, so there is no mess
  • Your ear canal is seen clearly throughout the procedure
  • Quick, with most appointments taking around 30 minutes
  • Comfortable for most people

Before your appointment

Using olive oil drops for a few days beforehand can help soften the wax and make removal easier. Our team will let you know if this is recommended for you.

Is it suitable for me?

Our clinician will examine your ears first to check that microsuction is right for you. Please tell us if you have an ear infection or pain, a perforated eardrum, or have had ear surgery.
