Blocked ears, muffled hearing or discomfort? Our trained clinicians offer gentle, effective ear wax microsuction, with no GP referral needed.
Ear wax is normal and usually clears on its own, but sometimes it builds up and blocks the ear. This can cause hearing loss, discomfort, ringing (tinnitus) or a feeling of fullness.
Microsuction is a safe, dry method of removing ear wax. Using magnification to see clearly inside your ear, our clinician gently removes the wax with a small, low-pressure suction device. No water is used, and it is quick and comfortable for most people.
Using olive oil drops for a few days beforehand can help soften the wax and make removal easier. Our team will let you know if this is recommended for you.
Our clinician will examine your ears first to check that microsuction is right for you. Please tell us if you have an ear infection or pain, a perforated eardrum, or have had ear surgery.
Our clinician examines your ears to check the wax and the health of your ear canal.
The wax is gently removed using a small suction device under magnification.
We check your ears again and give advice to help prevent future build-up.
Most people find it comfortable. You may hear a suction noise during the procedure, and some people feel a little dizzy briefly. Let the clinician know if you feel any discomfort.
