Free NHS blood pressure checks

High blood pressure rarely has symptoms, so the only way to know is to get checked. If you are 40 or over, you can have a free check with us.

High blood pressure (hypertension) increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes and kidney disease, yet many people do not know they have it. Our free NHS blood pressure check takes just a few minutes and can be done without an appointment.

Who can have a check

  • Adults aged 40 and over who have not been diagnosed with high blood pressure
  • Some people under 40 if their GP practice refers them

What happens if your reading is high

If your reading is raised, we may offer you ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. You wear a small monitor for 24 hours that measures your blood pressure as you go about your day, giving a more accurate picture. With your consent, we share your results with your GP practice so they can follow up if needed.
